Two ways that business owners can speed up the process of having their premises painted
There are several things that you can do to speed up the process of having your business premises painted. Read on to find out what these things are.
Prepare your premises
If you want to ensure that your premises is painted quickly and efficiently, it's worth doing some preparatory work a few days before the commercial painters are expected to arrive.
For example, if you run an office-based business, you should move all of the desks, chairs, filing cabinets, plants and office equipment (such as the photocopier and printer) that are positioned close the walls into the centre of the room and take down any artwork, plaques or other decor that you have hanging on the walls.
Whilst this might be quite a laborious process, it will significantly increase the speed with which the painters complete the painting process, as when they arrive at your place of business, they won't have to waste their time moving these items out of the way before they can start painting.
You should also remove any blinds or curtains in the space. The reason for this is as follows: if you leave these hanging up on the windows, the commercial painters may have to work far more slowly than they otherwise would when they start painting the walls near these windows, in order to ensure that none of the paint on their brushes splatters onto the blinds or the curtain fabric.
Taking these window dressings down before the painters arrive will allow them to work at a consistently fast pace throughout the entire process.
Additionally, if possible, unscrew and remove any shelves and brackets that are attached to the walls, as like the aforementioned window dressings, these too may hinder the speed with which the painters are able to complete the job.
Make sure the premises is safe for the painters
If one or more of the painters you have hired becomes ill or sustains an injury during the course of their work, your painting project may have to be put on hold until the affected individuals recover or until replacement painters can be hired.
As such, it is important to make sure that your premises are safe for the painters to work in.
For example, if your commercial space has glossy floor tiles, you might want to drape some canvas drop cloths over them, instead of using plastic sheeting to protect them from paint splatters, as plastic is a lot more slippery than canvas when it is laid over a smooth floor surface.
Doing this will minimise the risk of the painters' ladders slipping whilst they are standing on them, which will, in turn, reduce the chances of them falling off their ladders and hurting themselves.
Additionally, you should check that all of the windows in the areas that will be painted are unlocked and can be fully opened; this will ensure that the space is well-ventilated, which will prevent the painters from becoming ill as a result of inhaling the fumes from any toxic chemicals (such as paint strippers, for example) that they will be using.
